I'm going to go with Joker. International acclaim on one of Hollywood's famous mega-blockbusters, "The Dark Knight", with the late Heath Ledger playing the role of the Joker as well as he did, is bound to beat even the famous stylings of a classic American cartoon character like Homer. Not to mention that the film grossed over $1 billion in box office and people STILL read the comics of the batman series on top of Heath's early death (which brought even more attention to his role as the Joker).
