Who is more famous Master Chief or Neo from the Matrix?

The Matrix franchise pulled in US$1.6 billions at the box office and also produced a series of graphic novels and Video Games. Halo has so far pulled in US$2.8 billions but without a movie or TV series its appeal is solely limited to games players whereas the Matrix has a broader appeal. Along with DVD movie rentals and TV airplay, I think more people are likely to be familiar with Neo than with Master Chief, thus Neo is probably the more famous of the two.
