If something were to happen to a pharaoh, a new ruler would have to be enthroned complete with the coronation events of the new ruler and the funeral rites and services for the old pharaoh. Slaves, on the other hand, were of little or no importance in the ancient world. If something happened to them, they, or their services would be missed, but would also be replaced.
