Mario have always been the most popular game of gaming history, he is the number 1 video game hero of all time, he have gotten many stuff for sale from movies, to merchandise, to games and snacks, Mario will always be better than Sonic and any other video game ( He is number 1 and still is, and is not me saying it... its the video game history )

∙ 10y agoJust Mario himself since being created has appeared in over 200 Video Games, making his first appearance in 1981. Sonic though not as popular as mario as still has appeared in many games as well.

Both are famous, but sonic's games for the past 10 years have been called mediocre to barely acceptable by critics. 2D sonic was considered better than 3D Sonic. Mario isn't more famous. While the Mario series in general is more recognizable to the average person, Sonic as a character was slightly more popular than Mario as a character,in the 90's. And yes, obviously Sonic was much cooler as well.
