Someone who is under 35 years old or who was not born in the US is barred from the office of President. So if you ARE an American citizen, but you were born somewhere else you still can't run for president.
This may be nothing more than a semantic distinction. However, absolutely anyone can "run" for President. However, if you are under 35 years old, and were not born in the US of A, then someone somewhere will probably call you on it. If you do not meet these threshhold requirements, yet are able to win the nomination of your party, you may still have difficulty registering to be a Presidential candidate.
