Oobi is the main character of a children's television show of the same name, which is broadcast daily on Nick Jr.

Oobi has a a sister named Uma, and they are both looked after by Grampoo (presumably short for grandfather). Oobi also has a best friend named Keiko.

Oobi (and the vast majority of other characters excluding Freida the foot) is a simple hand puppet, consisting of a puppet actors hand with fake eyes attached. The characters of the show are distinguishable either by a prop (e.g. Uma's beret, or Keiko's red hat) or by a distinct shape (Grampoo's folded fingers, or the dance teacher's raised pinky). Oobi is mostly seen without any of these, and is thus distinguishable by his lack of discernable features.
