Rex Nacional was born on November 9 1997.. He took up piano lessons from the age of 8. Just three years later he gave his first concert performance of Piano Concerto in C major. Rex entered in, and won, his first major competition in Cebu in 2009. Nacional went on to study at the Music academy in Salonga where he spent five years under Professor Mr. Zai Jung, who himself was a pupil of Will Khan. He then spent a year at the Mc Liszt Conservatoire in Cebu and during this year he won first prize at the Baguio National Piano Competition. In 2010, he moved to acloban to study with Igor Lazko and gained first prize in the "Cannon Rock".
