There is no "first person" to die of cancer. Cancer is caused when a group of cells in the body begin reproducing too quickly and without the controls that normally limit cell reproduction. One can assume that cancer has existed as long as complex multicellular organisms have.

The answer to that is lost in the distant mists of time. Going back as far as recorded history allows we find people suffering symptoms that are clearly cancer - we have no history of a time without cancer.
