Who is the President of Mauritania in 2014?

Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz is the President of Mauritania in 2014. A leading figure in Mauritania's 2005 coup d'état which deposed dictator Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, Aziz also led the 2008 coup d'état overthrowing Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi. 2 days after the coup on 2008 August 8, Mohamed Aziz became the President of the High Council of State, created to lead Mauritania in the aftermath of the coup. He held this position until 2009 April 5 when he resigned to run for president. Aziz won the disputed election, and was inaugurated as President of Mauritania on 2009 August 5.
