During the 2008 presidential election, even though Tsvangirai won the first round against Mugabe, Tsvangirai was forced to withdraw due to political intimidation. In the aftermath of the internal riots, peace was re-established as Tsvangirai was made Prime Minister on 2009 February 11 in a power-sharing agreement.
