The Greek goddess of love and beauty was Aphrodite, whereas the Roman goddess of love and beauty was Venus. Both had the same roots, having sprung up out of the ocean. Both are wives to the god of the forge, Hephasteus in greek and Vulcan in Roman. In both Roman and Greek culture, there is record of Aphrodite and Venus not being particularly loyal to her husband, but then again, none of the gods were.
