Vasco Da Gama
It is said that Vikings discovered the North Americas but they never really claimed it as anything.
because he was the first one to step foot on America besides the native Americans and said he discovered it.
He didn't discover America. Leif Erikson, a viking, discovered America. He said there 500 years before columbus.
It would be most difficult to determine which explorer discovered the most land. However, Christopher Columbus discovered lands in Central America which is connected to both North and South America. So, it could be said that he "discovered" two continents that were previously unknown.
We don't know. But humans are said to have reached South America more than 20,000 years ago. It will have been shortly after that they discovered toucans.
This is Christopher Columbus (though he did not discover America, as there had been several "discoveries" starting with the original Native Americans).

Columbus's greatest adventure was to America. He said he discovered it when actully Vikings got there over 500 years before he did.
St. Brendan is amongst the people that are believed to have reached America before Columbus did. In 1977, an Adventurer named Tim Severin tried to get from Ireland to North America in a boat that would have been similar to ones from the 6th century, which is when St. Brendan is said to have made his voyage. Tim Severin succeeded, and reached Newfoundland, proving that it was possible that St. Brendan did do it.
Amerigo Vespucci's achievement was discovering the Americas. He is said to have discovered and charted North and South America before Columbus ever arrived. The name "America" is supposed to come from his first name.
Columbus is credited with making the European discovery of America, of which Canada is a part. So in a sense he can be said to have discovered Canada as part of his discovery of America, generally. However, Columbus never traveled to the lands that are now part of Canada.
