I have had my sony 50 inch liquid Crystal flat tvf or 4 years and have had no trouble with it at all. I wast old I would have to replace the back-light bulb every 3-5 years but so far it's hasn't flinched. I believe there is a life time on these crystals but it is on the order of 10 years or more(depending on how you use it) and the settings on the tv.
