Polat Alemdar was played by Necati Sasmaz, a Turkish actor. Sasmaz studied tourism and hotel management before acting. After the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, he abandoned his plans to return to the US and instead remained in Turkey, where he met Osman Sinav, creator of "Valley of the Wolves."
