The twelve issues of Alan Moore's graphic novel "Watchmen" was collected and published in one volume in 1987.Those same twelve issues came out September 1986 to October 1987 .
In the graphic novel they don't actually say the word watchmen at all, they used the term 'masks' a lot though. The term 'watchmen' is meant to refer to superheroes in general, not a group. In the movie they use it maybe five or six times but they still stuck with the idea that it wasn't a specific crimefighting team.
The Watchmen graphic novel takes place in an alternate 1985. it is also a lot darker and at the same time more technologically advanced than 1985. but if you'd read the book like the rest of the real fans you would know that already.
The Watchmen - novel - was created in 2004.
The ISBN of The Watchmen - novel - is 0399151737.
If you liked the graphic novel, then yes, since it's nearly a scene-for-scene replication. If you're not a fan before you watch it, though, you'll probably have a hard time getting into it (at least my wife and non-comic friends did).
A graphic novel is not the same as a regularly issued comic book but is a "one shot" edition that tells an original story and is not part of an ongoing narrative. Marvel Comic's 'Revenge of the Living Monolith' is an example of a graphic novel whereas DC Comics's 'The Watchmen' is not. 'The Watchmen' is an example of a trade paperback due to it being a collected version of the limited series that was first released in comic book form.
"Watchmen" is a graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons that was originally published in the late 1980s. It is a complex and acclaimed deconstruction of the superhero genre, exploring themes of power, morality, and the consequences of vigilantism. The story follows a group of retired superheroes investigating a conspiracy that threatens the world.
One was intended to go to bookstores whereas the other version went directly to a comic shop .
