The usual way to become an architect in New Zealand is to complete a five year New Zealand University degree in Architecture, (there are currently three Universities that offer degree courses that qualify), then to work for a Registered New Zealand Architect in New Zealand for at least three years, then submit case studies and go through the assessment by Professional Conversation (like an oral exam). Being a builder may not reduce any of these requirements.
