The first woman to have climbed Mount Everest twice was Santosh Yadav from India. She did so in 1992 and 1993. There are only a small number of woman who have reached the top two times.
Up to the end of 2016 there had been 7,645 ascents of Mount Everest. Only 486 were from woman climbers.
On the 25th May 1999 Cathy O'Dowd stood on the summit of Mount Everest for the second time, the only woman to do so by different routes, the South Col in 1996 and now by the North Col.
Edmund Hillary only climbed on Mount Everest once, in 1953.
During 1984 there was only one woman who reached the summit of Mount Everest, she was called Bachendri Pal from India and 29 years old. She reached the top of the world on the 23rd May 1984 and became the first Indian woman to do so.

As well as Mount Everest Junk Tabei has climbed Mount Fuji as well as the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps. On 28th June 1992 she finished the climb of Puncak Jaya to become the first woman to complete the Seven Summits.
Bachendri Pal has been to Mount Everest a few times but only reached the summit once, that was on the 23 May 1984.
Her name is Dicky Dolma. She is also the youngest woman to have climbed Everest, at age 19.

Reinhold Messner was the first person to climb Mount Everest alone (solo). He reached the summit on the 20th August 1980.The only other person to climb solo is Tashi Changba Sherpa from Nepal who did so on the 20th May 2016.
