There is no single leader of Freemasonry. Each lodge is a member of a grand lodge for its jurisdiction. Usually this is by state, province, or other country-defined regional borders, but not necessarily. Each grand lodge is made up of members that are elected from among their constituent lodges. The Grand Master of the grand lodge is a sort of president over their jurisdiction for their year of service.

All grand lodges throughout the world are equal, there is no higher body or person over them.
