Tokio Hotel is a German rock band who formed under the name "Devilish" in 2001 in Magdeburg, Germany signed under Sony BMG. The quartet has scored four number one singles, two number one albums and sold nearly 3 million CDs and DVDs in their homeland, they have become the biggest act to come out of Germany in 20 years. Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel ("Tokio", the German language spelling of the city Tokyo, Japan, because they love big cities, due to their constant touring and sleeping in hotels), and Interscope Records took them under contract.
