The Grito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores), as it was performed on the small village of Dolores.
The Cry of Dolores (Spanish: Grito de Dolores) involved Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo, during the early hours of September 16, 1810. Using the church bells, he summoned and later stirred the population of the small village of Dolores, starting the revolt that eventually became the war of independence against Spanish colonial forces.
He started the independence movement on the village of Dolores, present-day state of Guanajuato (See related links) during the first hours of September 16, 1810.
It is the Mexican village of Santiago.

Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla lived from May 8th, 1753 to July 30th, 1811. He was an important leader of the Mexican War of Independence and is also considered the Father of the Nation of Mexico. He is most famous for the uprising and revolt of peasants which he caused in 1810. Although he was captured and executed, he is considered the main inspiration behind the Mexican War of Independence.
