Vladimir Lenin was the leader of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in Russia. That faction later split off and became its own party. Then in March 1918 it changed its name to the Communist Party. Lenin led the Bolshevik faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Party. Eventually the faction split from the RSDP to become the Bolshevik Party. After the Russian Civil War, it became the Communist Party.

The Bolsheviks and Mensheviks were two factions of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in the early 20th century. The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, advocated for a centralized party structure and a revolutionary approach to achieve socialism, believing in the necessity of a vanguard party to lead the working class. In contrast, the Mensheviks favored a more democratic and inclusive approach, supporting a broader coalition and gradual reform rather than an immediate revolution. These ideological differences ultimately led to a split in the party and significant divisions during the Russian Revolution of 1917.
The Bolshevik Party (later renamed the Communist Party) led the Russian Revolution of October 1917. The previous revolution in that year, the February Revolution, was not ed by any particular political party.

The question is has the order of events backward. Alexander Hamilton was a founder of the Federalist Party, which preceded the Democratic-Republicans. Thomas Jefferson lead a group called the Anti-Federalists who opposed ratification of the Constitution and later became the Democratic-Republican Party. The Federalists were first; the Democratic-Republicans were formed to oppose the Federalists.
The word Bolshevik means in Russian "majority", they formed as a group at the 1903 Russian Social Democratic Labour Party conference in London. They were the radical Marxists while the Mensheviks, "minority", were the moderates. The Bolsheviks were lead by Lenin and grew to a considerable size in 1917. In October, November by our calendar, of 1917 they overthrew the Menshevik government which came to power in the Febuary Revolution and was in the eyes of the majority of Russian workers not much better than the Tsar. After the Russian Civil War, the Bolsheviks (now the Communist Party) started to see the party become a bureacratic nightmare, Lenin tried to reverse this but he died with most of the leaders of the party ignoring his calls for radical reform.
