Hello.
If you read Genesis chapter 5: 27 which reads: " So all the days of Me.thu'se.lah amounted to 962 years, and then he died.
Methuselah was the eighth human generation. Read Luke 3: 37,38. He enjoyed a life span of 969 years, the longest of Bible record, and one that has become proverbial for longevity. he died in 2370 B. C. E, the year in which the Flood began.
It was God's original purpose that man should live forever. Being perfect, the first man Adam had the opportunity to enjoy a span of life that would never end, subject to obedience to God. Read Genesis 2: 17.
However, because of disobedience, Adam forfeited that opportunity, and from him all human race inherited sin and death. Read Romans 5: 12. The word "sin" means the lost of perfection.
Kind regards
