Of course neophytes ( converted indians), missionaries, priests( maybe) and soldiers.
This mission, located near present-day Monterrey, California, became home to many local natives of the Esselen and Ohlone people.
The San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission, founded in 1770 in California, primarily served as a religious and cultural center for the local indigenous population and Spanish settlers. At its peak, the mission housed around 300 to 400 people, including missionaries, indigenous converts, and laborers. However, the exact population fluctuated over time due to various factors such as disease, relocation, and changes in mission policies.

St. Charles spent most of his life in Milan, Italy.
The mission (also known as Mission Carmel) was established in 1770 and moved to its current location in 1771. It was the favorite mission of its founder, Father Junipero Serra who lived there and made it his headquarters. When he died in 1784, Serra was intombed underneath its floors..so I guess he still lives there. The Esselen and Ohlone Indians of the area lived and worked at the mission too.
He has not lived in Belgium. I think he was visited there. He has only lived in Stratford, Ontario (birth place) and Atlanta, Georgia.
