It is a Murray product though I could not tell you if it is the Noma division. All belong to Briggs & Stratton now. The manual is available from Sear at the ManageMyLife.com site and is linked below.
Check the serial # that should tell you. Though you may have to research the coding they used
i have the same one
mfg date 2003-06-25
I bought mine at Sears 15 years ago, so that would place it in the 1998 time-frame...
On the one I have ( 536.887250 )at the bottom looking from the rear of the snow blower there is a sticker that has the Model #, Serial #, and date of build. Mine has 9/9/2002.

John Deere 38 Snow Thrower snow blower is the model tractor that will fit the craftsman 40 model 842.240510. The model will fit perfectly and will not need any fabrication.
I found some of them at download.snowblowerguide.com It is paid service but no one has it but them.
You can get the same diagrams and parts list that are in the original owners manual on the sears, partsdirect web site by typing in the model number. However many of the parts are listed as no longer available.
What engine is on this snow thrower I know it is a Briggs&Stratton engine but I need to know the model number.
Try the following website - it has many manuals that can be downloaded free: managemylife.com
Did you ever find or receive an answer on getting a manual- I can probably scan the manual if you still need it
I purchased mine in 2003 not sure if that was the year it was manufactured. I never needed to do any maintnance in 11 years so im not sure about the air filter.
Unfortunately the model number you gave it not listed any where. It looks like a serial number. The Craftsman tractor model numbers are like this example :- "CRCRA17542"
