Multiple companies made rifles for Sears, Western Auto, Montgomery Wards, etc, marking them with the company's trademark. If you will give us a model number, we can give you a better answer. Makers included Mossberg, Winchester, Marlin, Remington, Savage, etc.
Revelation was the Western Auto Supply Company store brand for their rifles, shotguns, and revolvers. The Model 220B was made by Mossberg and is the same as the Mossberg 800. This is a short-action center fire bolt action rifle with a unique bolt containing 6 locking lugs in two spirals. The rifle was available in .308 Winchester, .243 Winchester, and .22-250. Under the Revelation brand, the rifle was available in standard hunting configurations. The stock was hardwood, often Walnut, with impressed checkering unique to Revelation rifles. This checkering contained an plain oval in both the forend and the pistol grip area. All parts available for the Mossberg 800 standard sporter models will fit the Revelation 220 (including the Mannlicher stock).
Made by Mossberg, and labeled with the Western Auto Revelation brand, your rifle is a Model 640K. If it has no serial number, it was made between 1959 and 1967. Rifles made in 1968 and later were required to have serial numbers. The model went out of production in 1985.
I believe your rifle was made for Western Auto Stores under their Revelation brand, but is a Savage 110 (possibly 110E) The store branded rifles generally sell for a little less than the maker branded rifles, but are still very good rifles. Depending on condition, value may be $250-$350. The Model 110 took its name from the original selling price. Very strong, very accurate rifles.
Neither Revelation nor Western Field made firearms. The first is a brand name retailed by Western Auto and the second by Montgomery Ward. The Revelation 220 is a Mossberg 800 and the 225 a Savage 340.
Most rifles made by Winchester dropped the WCF(Winchester Center Fire) designation at the start of World War II.In this case 1941-1942.
According to my catalogue it was made by Marlin. It's a Marlin model 49 made between 1968-71. If I am right it's an Autoloader. It has no collector value and is worth somewhere around $100. They were low-priced rifles made for large chain outlets as utility rifles.
Any rifle chambered for that cartridge. Most will be custom made double rifles.
These excellent rifles are made in Turkey.
My catalogue states that the rifle was made by Mossberg (Model 320-321) Mossberg made a variety of single shot and repeating bolt action rifles starting in the 1930. they were low-priced and were intended for extensive use. However it does not state when they stopped making these rifles. About 30 different models were made.
They were originally made in New Haven Ct. Some are now made in South America. You can check with Mossberg Customer Service through their website.
There are dozens of models of rifles and a few revolvers that fire the .17 HMR cartridge. Rifles in that caliber are made by Remington, Winchester, Marlin, Mossberg, Savage, Taurus and others.
JC Higgins is a SEARS brand name. JC Higgins rifles and guns were actually made by brand name arms company that just used the JC Higgins name when they made guns and rifles for Sears. Western Auto used the Revelation name in the same way.
