When purchasing a motorcycle helmet, check to make sure that it has a DOT (Department of Transportation) sticker. That means that it has passed DOT safety standards. There really isn't one brand that is safer than another, because of these standards.
Personally, I only purchase full face helmets so as to have the all around protection. I believe there are helmet styles, such as full face, that are safer than others. Open-faced helmets leave your face unprotected, and well, my eyes and teeth are very important to me. When choosing a helmet, consider which style is safer rather than which brand.
