The original was Amex with their "Black" card now referred to as the "Centurion" card. Astronomical fees ($5000 sign up fee, $2500 yearly, and $250,000 minimum purchases per year) provided you with status and a concierge service at your beck and call for every need.
I just received a Chase Sapphire Preferred and I was very happily surprised that it is metal as well. Yearly fee is only $95 so it's hardly exclusive. It does have a concierge service but it aint no Black card. It is the coolest thing to ever be in my wallet.

There are many credit card companies that offer reliable credit cards. However, my list of reliable credit cards would include Visa, MasterCard, HSBC, and RBC credit cards.
It takes some strong gauss to wipe a credit card. Most metal detectors only detect ferrous materials they do not emit much gauss as they only need to detect a distrubance in the gauss lines to give you a reading on the detetctor. So the answer is no. You also should not be able to FIND credit cards with a metal detector - let alone mess with the magnetic strip on them.
