Any registered user can win a WAmmy award! To nominate yourself or someone you know:
You must win a WAmmy award.
To earn a WAmmy Badge, you need to win a WikiAnswers WAmmy Award. See the links below for the past winners and winning contributions.
"The Whitten Award" is given out to those users (once per year) that have gone significantly above and beyond in their time on WikiAnswers, or as the award states, for a lifetime achievement. It was made in honor of Chris Whitten, the creator of WikiAnswers, and is one of the many WAmmy's given out per year. See the related link below for the list of winners of "The Whitten Award" and to see how to win a WAmmy.
Your user name is listed on the WAmmy award winners page, a badge is placed on your profile (with information about which WAmmy category you won), and of course, the prestige of being a top contributor on Answers.
There are different users that win the WAmmy awards each year. Many users have won.
If you won a WAmmy award, you are notified in February of the following year (for example, if you won a 2013 Wammy, you will be notified in February of 2014), and they are announced publicly by March 1st. If you win an AnswerThon, you are notified within 10 days of the contest close date.
Any registered contributor on Answers may win a WAmmy award, considering that someone has nominated one of their Q&A contributions (or they have nominated their own contribution) and the nomination makes it to the final voting. Nominations for each category can be posted by non-supervisors on the Community Forum in the WAmmys' thread throughout the year. Supervisors may post nominations on the Supervisor's Forum in the WAmmy threads throughout the year.
To win a WAmmy Award, you must demonstrate excellence within your field of work and be recognized by the judging committee for your significant contributions or achievements. The winners are selected based on criteria such as creativity, innovation, impact, and overall quality of work.
