John Cabot sailed under King Henry VII of England, so the King would have paid him.
King Henry VII paid for Cabots May 2, 1497 expedition. He left from Bristol England on a ship called the Matthew and landed in Newfoundland. He became the first Euopean Explorer to discover North America
England, because Cabot didn't want Spain getting all the glory so he asked the king and queen if they would sponsor his trip to Asia.
