Al Qaeda is an international terrorism network with central locations or hubs in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan. In the past they were also based out of Sudan. Al Qaeda is characterized by suicide attacks and bombings of high traffic areas, sometimes while simultaneously occurring.
The normal English spelling of the Arabic name is Al-Qaeda (Al Qaeda), but it may be spelled al-Qaida and sometimes al-Qa'ida.
