Actually, this saying came from the Hindu Gandi, not from The Bible. It would be scripturally correct to say that God hates sinners (Psalms 5:5), but because of Jesus death on the cross our sin was propitiated. Now when God looks at the cross he sees the believer and when he looks at the believer He sees Jesus. Christ righteousness was imputed to us, the active believer. 2 Corinthians 5:21 sums this up for you.

The first person I know of who coined this phrase was Ellen G. White in her book Prophets and Kings, which was first published in 1917. I couldn't give you the exact page, but here is a link if you would like to read this book: see related link below.
Another Answer:
Ellen G. White quotes Isaiah 55:7: Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon. Then he misquoted the bible by saying "God hates sin, but He loves the sinner."

The first answer to this question is completely incorrect. Ghandi did not coin this phrase but it was actually first coined by Saint Augustine who said "Love the sinner, hate the sin". Saint Augustine said: Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to "With love for mankind and hatred of sins."

God loves everybody very, very much whatever you do.
He hates it but he doesnt hate the sinner
Acording to Jesus God loves and forgives everyone.
You have to ask GOD to forgive your sins and ask to came into your heart and save you. GOD loves you and you to be with him and not in Hell. He hates sin, but he loves the sinner. John 3:16 says " FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE."
God loves everyone but hates sin, if you don't believe me, the Bible will tell you the same thing.
Yes. Absolutely. God loves everyone, including liars, cheats, murderers, rapists, paedophiles and even you and me. However, in that love God does not condone the fact that the person is a liar - far from it. God hates the sin but loves the sinner. Imagine you have a child of your own, you nurture that child through his infancy and he is the apple of your eye. Now suppose that child becomes a drug addict. Do you love him less? Of course not - as his parent you continue to love him because you are his parent. In a similar way God loves sinners as much as those who think they lead (and only 'think' usually!) a more righteous life - but he hates the sin, and hopes that the sinner will turn away from that sin to become more God-like. He doesn't make us do it - we have to change because of our own wish to please God. That is true love.
Everybody is a sinner, and everybody sins; and because you are a sinner you should read the Bible so that you will know that despite the fact that you are a sinner, God still loves you above all other things.
Now, i can't answer for God, but in my catholic opinion, he hates the sin but loves the sinner. so to be with someone in the act of a crime is most likely devestating to Him but when they repent and try to do better, then he is joyful. so no, He probly is not joyful to be with someone in the act of commiting a crime.
Homosexuality is going against what God allows but always remember one important thing-God hates the sin but will always luv the sinner
because she loves you so she said you are her GOD She loves and worships you.
Being a sinner is falling short of the Glory of God. God does not fall short of His own Glory ergo God is not a sinner.
John 4:20.
In Christian Theology God loves all people, as a father loves his children. This is not only in Christian Theology but God loves everyone. In some beliefs their God loves only those who serve him with blind fanaticism and he hates all the non believers that he calls heathens/pagans/infidels that he has condemned to eternity in hell.
