Niels Bohr proposed that electrons are arranged in concentric circular paths or orbits around the nucleus. Electrons in a particular path have a fixed energy, thus they do not lose energy and fall into the nucleus. Experiments were base on the hydrogen atom. Results did not hold true for other atoms.

Ben Franklin is the one who said electrons have fixed amount of energy. He said that both the electrons and protons have the constant measure of electricity.

When electrons absorbs energy they exist for a short time at a higher energy level these electrons are said to be?

These electrons are called "excited".

Electrons farther from the nucleus are said to be of what energy?

higher energy

When electrons absorbs energy they exist for a short time higher energy level. These electrons are said to be?

"Excited", or in an "excited state".

Electrons farther from the nucleus are said to be of?

"higher energy"

What can be said of the amount of energy that an electron absorbs when it is excited compared to the amount of energy that it releases when it returns to ground state?

The amount of energy that is absorbed is the same as the amount of energy that is released.

Do electrons have different amounts of energy?

Yes, electrons can have different amounts of energy. In quantum mechanical systems where any particle (not just electrons) are bound, they can only acquire discrete amounts of energy called energy levels. Adding energy to an electron in an atom might cause it to jump to a higher energy level and is then said to be in an excited state; if it were to fall to a lower level it would give up a discrete amount of energy equal to the difference in energy between the two states.

When the maximum number of electrons is an energy level it is said to be what level?

The electrons on the outermost level are called Valence electrons. the usual maximum is 8.

Who was the scientist that said electrons are found in specific energy levels?

That was Niels Bohr

When an atom absorbs energy that causes one of its electrons to move to a higher energy level the atom is said to be in?

Excited state

Who said electrons occupy energy levels or shells?

Niels Bohr was the one who stated that first.

What is meant by excited state of an electron?

When the electrons are at higher energy level, they are said to be excited state.
