The First Fleet carried the first group of convicts to Australia. It was followed later by the Second and Third fleets, but after that, shiploads of convicts sailed independently or in pairs.
The First Fleet sailed leaving England to Australia
The Second Fleet arrived in Australia in 1790.The Lady Juliana was the first of the Second Fleet's ships to arrive in Australia, doing so on 3 June 1790.
Records do not show the name of the ship on which William Buckley, the convict, sailed to Australia. He was not, however, on the First Fleet.

Sources vary, but there were approximately 191 soldiers, known as marines, despatched to guard the convicts on the First Fleet to Australia.

The Second Fleet consisted of six ships. The Lady Juliana, The Guardian, The Surprise, Neptune, Scarborough and Justinian.
