They experienced Him in exactly the same way they did before. They saw Him with their eyes, they talked with Him and walked with Him. One difference was that He didn't walk around or teach openly any more. They also saw Him eat on a number of occasions and He still answered their questions as before, such as those of 'doubting Thomas.'

he revealed himself to many of his followers. forty or so saw him ascend into Heaven. he appeared to his disciples multiple times (ex. Thomas, Marys, etc.)

AnswerMatthew: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, on the road as they returned from the tomb. Later, the disciples saw the risen Jesus in a mountain in Galilee.

Luke: Jesus appeared to the two men on the road to Emmaeus, then to the eleven apostles together in an upper room. They then went out to Bethany, where Jesus ascended to heaven on the evening of his resurrection.

John: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene in the garden at the tomb, then to ten of the apostles together in an upper room, then a few days later to all eleven in the same room. He finally appeared to the disciples at the Sea of Galilee.

Mark: The earliest manuscripts of this gospel end at verse 16:8, with the young man saying that Jesus is risen, and the women fleeing in terror, telling no one. The "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-25) was added much later to provide resurrection appearances. In the "Long Ending" (there was also, at one stage, a "Short Ending") Jesus appeared to the two (women: to harmonise with Matthew, or men: to harmonise with Luke) as they walked and finally to to the eleven apostles together at a meal.

Acts of the Apostles goes further than Luke's Gospel, saying that Jesus remained on earth for forty days and was seen by many before being taken bodily up into heaven.

A:Each of the four gospels tells of how the risen Jesus Christ met his disciples, although each account provides conflicting stories of his appearance in different places and times. Mark's Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8, with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they told no one; the "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-20) was added long afterwards to provide some evidence of resurrection, and this ending is somewhat consistent with each of Matthew's Gospel and Luke's Gospel.

Only one author then explains what happened to Christ afterwards. Luke's Gospel says that Jesus was seen by the disciples to ascend bodily to heaven on the evening of the same day as his resurrection from the grave (Luke 24:51). Acts of the Apostles, written by the same author but some time later, says that Jesus remained on earth for forty days after his resurrection from the grave and was then seen by the disciples to ascend bodily to heaven.

In the "Long Ending" (there was also, at one stage, a "Short Ending") Jesus appeared to the two (women: to harmonise with Matthew, or men: to harmonise with Luke) as they walked and finally to to the eleven apostles together at a meal. Thus, no appearances in the original Gospel and two appearances in the Long Ending.

Matthew: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, on the road as they returned from the tomb. Later, the disciples saw the risen Jesus in a mountain in Galilee.

Luke: Jesus appeared to the two men on the road to Emmaeus, then to the eleven apostles together in an upper room. They then went out to Bethany, where Jesus ascended to heaven on the evening of his resurrection, meaning there was no further chance for others to see him.

John: Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene in the garden at the tomb, then to ten of the apostles together in an upper room, then a few days later to all eleven in the same room. He finally appeared to the disciples at the Sea of Galilee. In this account, Mary Magdalene and the eleven disciples saw the risen Jesus.

Acts of the Apostles, by the same author as Luke's Gospel but written somewhat later, goes further than Luke's Gospel and says that Jesus remained on earth for forty days and was seen by many before being taken bodily up into heaven. In this account, he must have been seen very many times and by many people.
