John Cabot's reason of exploration was to find spices, gold and riches said to be found in the indies(Asia). King Heenry lV was jelous of Portugal and Spain because of there ways of getting these riches, so he sent a person who he thought could reach Asia going west not east. This man was John Cabot.He was also looking for a route to Asia.
King Henry VII of England sent John Cabot a Venetian navigator in 1497 to explore for a new passage to Asia. Cabot discovered rich fishing grounds off Newfoundland, and claimed them for England.

John Cabot sailed to Canada by accident. He never intended to go to Canada. Believing that he can take a shorter route to Asia if he were to travel west and north from the northern part of Europe, he ended up in Canada.
He sailed out to explore because they were trying to find a way to Aisa because the way they already had was dangerous
