The International Space Station (ISS) is still under construction. The first section was sent up into orbit in 1998, and sections are still being sent up. The station is expected to be completed in 2011.
Currently right now the International Space Station is the only space station in orbit. It has however been the only space station with such international participation that it can be really be considered international. Countries, including the US, have sent astronauts to Russia's former space station Mir. Just because the International Space Station is international, doesn't necessarily mean that every country uses it. Their are 15 countries that contribute to the ISS program including the US, Russia, Canada, Japan, and several European countries.
The first module, Zarya, was sent into orbit on the 20th November 1998
The ISS, more commonly known as the International Space Station has many importance purposes. This is a station in space that orbits the Earth. It is a joint project of 17 different countries. From this station feedback is sent back to earth that can be analyzed and studied for knowledge and understanding of space.
The last Space Shuttle to go into space and to the Space Station was Endeavour

The three examples of international cooperation in space are as following: 1) In 1975, United States and Soviet Aircraft joined together in space. 2)In the late 1990s, United States, Russia and 14 other countries began working to build International Space Station. 3)In 1990, United States and European countries sent the Hubble Space Telescope.
Space achievements since 1961 include several trips to the moon along with a walk on the moon itself. Other achievements include rovers sent to Mars and the construction of the International Space Station.?æ
There are literally thousands of man made objects in space, such as parts of old space rockets sent up by Russia, China, Europe and the USA etc, lots of military and civilian satellites used for communication, navigation, research and reconnaissance, space probes sent to explore planets like Mars, the Hubble Space Telescope used to look deep into space and the International Space Station.
