The Dunedin (1876-82) was the first ship to complete a truly successful transport of refrigerated meat. In its capacity, it helped set the stage for New_Zealandsuccess as a major provider of agricultural exports, notwithstanding its extreme remoteness from most markets.

Phillip D. Armour was the first businessman to introduce the refrigerated railroad car. It was for transporting meat. The answer would be "meat packing".
Raw meat should be refrigerated as soon as possible. It shouldn't be out of the cold for over an hour or so. Cooked meat should be removed from the bone and refrigerated within two hours.

It was created by engineers employed by Gustavus F. Swift for the transportation of meat. Swift sold cattle but saw flaws in the industry so wanted to be able to do it all from Chicago. Once it was developed, Swift could slaughter, butcher, and pack meat that could now be shipped all across America.
