Who should speak first the person entering the room or the person already in the room?

I would think the person entering the room should be the first

to speak. It can also depend on the gender, and ag of persons

involved. Out of respect, the elderly should be spoken to first

regardless of whether they are in the room or entering. If you are

entering the home of someone, you should be the first to speak.
