Where did you see this commercial? The song was originally performed by The Clique, and R.E.M. made it famous with their version. It was written by Gary Zekley. I knew that R.E.M. had covered the original version by The Clique. I saw the Toyota commercial during the premier of LOST on Thursday night. A band called 'The Academy Is' does a cover and I had thought it was their cover, but I don't think it's their cover. This is killing me not knowing because it sounds like a pretty good cover. I'm dying to see this commercial. What did it look like? I wonder if it will air during the Super Bowl. Is Toyota a sponser? My guess is it will be on during the Super Bowl at some point. The commercial is these kids rolling down a hill in these giant bubble looking things and the Sequoia is being used to tow the bubble things back up a hill. It looks like a lot of fun whatever it is those bubble things are... I'm thinking this cover of 'Superman' might have been done by Plural from their 2005 album 'I Feel Beautiful.' I need to see the TV ad again to be sure.
