Fred Silver wrote the song and sold it to Carol Burnette. Fred Silver was born in Brooklyn in March 1936. He started playing the piano at age 2. He had a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from Julliard School of Music. Fred was the first recipient of the Rodgers and Hammerstein award given to a composer for the musical theater. He was a Steinway Artist and won the Freschl Song award for "Cradle Song". He has written 8 musicals and 120 Choral pieces. He was the author of, "Auditioning for the Musical Theater".
