this answer is just so simple that needs further research music (soft, classical) stimulates your brain, it organizes your brain function. your brain tries to understand or integrates the stimulus (music). brain reacts to external stimuli. your hypothalamus controls temperature, medulla oblongata & pons for pulse, etc.
Just a personal opinion since there was no answer. It's negative because of the image it creates. Have you seen the videos they produce on MTV? Half naked women dancing in a nightclub, big houseparty, lots of booze and it's a negative way to view women and the songs that sing lyrics such as 'I wanna f**k you' In my opinion it sets the benchmark for a new generation of young men to regard women as play things. Most of the music disgusts me (well certain hip-hop artists in particular) and the way they represent women in seemingly all their lyrics disgusts me. If you have a functioning brain cell, your conscience should be screaming in protest at these types of lyrics. Listen to the song 'F**k Machines' by Propagandhi, it nicely sums up how ridiculous the representation of women is at the moment. There are some good hip-hop which isn't negative, examples would be 'where is the love' by Black Eyed Peas and Outkast's song 'hey ya'. Hope this helps.
