According to wikipedia's article on Madonna they write " She has sold over more than 200 million albums worldwide." Surprisingly, Sony BMG said that Celine Dion sold the same amount. I would say both of them sold a lot of records.
But according to the 2009 October edition of the RollingStone magazine: "In the past three decades, Madonna has sold over 200 million records (more than any other female artist by far)".
