That will depend upon the pennies being weighed. Uncirculated copper pennies minted 1909 to 1982 (not including zinc 1943) are heavier than the new zinc pennies that started in 1983. Fifty pounds of the old copper pennies would be about $72.50. Fifty pounds of the new zinc pennies would be about $90.00.

The U.S. started making 1 cent coins in 1793. However, the first pennies (i.e. the coins that are really called pennies, not nicknamed) were minted in England as far back as the 8th century AD.
It's hard to say. Canada stopped minting pennies in 2012, and since early 2013 the government has been withdrawing them from circulation. Before they started withdrawing pennies, though, the government estimated that there were 35 billion in circulation.
