No individual "started" the Revolution. It began through several innocuous Facebook events to commemorate the Tunisian Bouazizi (who self-immolated when the Tunisian government effectively prevented him from making a living). These marches were supposed to be small, but resulted in large protests. When people saw how successful those events were, they communally agreed to make the protest larger and longer. The leaders only came later as the Revolution was gaining momentum.
