It seems to have first made the scene in the Christmas catalogues of the Miles Kimball company ( a mail order house) inthe mid to late seventies. The moronic tradition immediatly took off with statues, posters, etc. the idea is ludicrous a magical myth-like character-Santa Claus, not in any clerical garb (there was a St.Nicholas!) is seen int he traditiona reindeer and sleigh equipe and usual Claus costume of red and white suit, Santa Claus hat and Black Garrison Belt, transposed(how it is never explained) at the manger of the First Christmas! This lash-up of Fantasy and reality is to say the least, dangerous, to get even the historical St. Nicholas back to the Crib would require a minimal 300-400 year time warp- a good analogy would be to take James Bond ( a fictional Character) and somehow throgh a bomb blast take him back to the court of Elizabeth I ( who died in l603) so a minimum of a400 year time warp! The idea is stilly and stupid. Santa Claus is a fantasy character in present garb which is what he has on in the (Kneeling Santa) merchandise. You can"t mix childish fantasy with Biblical reality! That"s my Take Keep CHRIST in CHRISTmas! NOW!
