Racism is not just one thing. It has been defined in many different ways over the years and from nation to nation and culture to culture. There are about as many different definitions of this term as there are people with opinions about it.

Functionally speaking, racism formally began when there was a common acceptance of the idea of race itself (circa 1600s).

The power dynamics and systematic and other forms of discrimination based on how people interpreted race existed long before the terms "race" or "racism" were ever coined. Long before racism became a word, there has been oppression which (like racism) is not merely about when one person hurts another person, but involve a structural or systematic use of cruel authority or power of one group over another.

Well, at least there was hostility towards Russians and Asian people, because of the wars...

I don't know if there was increased racism towards African American people or Jews.

Someone else will have to comment on that.

No one person started it... it's been a practice of humans for as long as there have been different ethnic groups. Going all the way back to tribal days.

Antisemitism did not start in World War 2, it did however exist in many forms and within most armies fighting in the war.
