Although Sydney Newman is often credited with creating the series, it was in fact created by a group that included Newman, C.E. Webber, Donald Wilson, Rex Tucker, David Whitaker, Anthony Coburn and Verity Lambert. Russell T Davies is often erroneously credited with creating the show; he only oversaw its return in 2005.
