Robin Hood's legend tells us he robbed the rich and gave to the poor. The story began in the 1200's as an oral poem told by roving bards. When the story was first told many of the characters we know today weren't part of the story. A good example of this is Maid Marion and she shows up late in the story.
Robin Hood and his merry men. There were wanted criminals so I'm not sure exactly how merry they really were.
