The "Manchu Empire" took over China in 1644 when the ruling "Ming Dynasty" crumbled due to peasant revolts, corruption and a failing economy. They invaded China from Manchuria through the Northern entrance of the 'Great Wall' when the Chinese army opened the gates to allow the Manchus to restore order when rebels took over much of China's Northern provinces. The Manchu Empire then ruled China for the next 200+ years.
