The Globe Theatre
Theatre.
Michael Jackson, if he weren't dead. It depends, of course, which Globe Theatre you are talking about. The famous one is the one built in 1599 in London, rebuilt in 1614, and torn down in 1644. The main Theatre Company to perform in this Theatre were the King's Men, which company included many of the owners of the theatre itself. This Globe Theatre was so famous that many other theatres have been named after it. Many different companies play in these theatres.
William Shakespeare's theatre company built the Globe to perform plays in. He was one of the owners/founders.
Actors during the Globe theatre era were not always looked upon favorably. They were often viewed as beggars and vagabonds. Women were not allowed to perform so young men played women's roles. The Globe theatre was constructed in 1599 and was a unique, elaborate theatre.
The Globe Theatre has a resident company who performs there. See the attached link. But visiting companies also perform there, not only professional ones but also student groups.
